Denver Broncos fans, get ready for some good news! Star cornerback Pat Surtain II is on the mend, and his recovery is looking incredibly promising. After suffering a pectoral strain in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, Surtain has been sidelined, leaving a noticeable gap in the Broncos' defense. But, according to Surtain himself, he's feeling like the legendary Wolverine, known for his rapid healing abilities.
Surtain's injury, thankfully, wasn't severe enough to warrant a stint on the injured reserve, which would have kept him out for a minimum of four weeks. This suggests his return could be sooner rather than later, potentially as early as the game against the Washington Commanders. Although he hasn't been practicing this week, and is likely to miss the crucial AFC West showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, his progress is encouraging.
During his podcast, “Closed on Sundays,” Surtain shared, "I feel like Wolverine… I feel like I’m healing the right way." He also mentioned he's regaining his regular range of motion and can even do push-ups, a positive sign for his pectoral muscle's health. He's clearly eager to get back on the field, stating, "I’m tired of watching. I’m tired of waiting."
But here's where it gets interesting... While there's no official return date, fans are hoping for his comeback either on November 30th against Washington or December 7th against Las Vegas.
And this is the part most people miss... Surtain's absence hasn't kept him away from his team. He's been actively supporting his teammates, and he's been excited to see other players step up and make plays. "It’s positive, because, for me and my perspective now, you open to see everyone else," he said. He's motivated by his teammates' performances, and he's rooting for their success.
